Using the mods Sodium, Lithium and Phosphor should grant some insane performance improvements, and you can play on vanilla servers without any issues. You can find many more Steam Deck guides on the GamingOnLinux YouTube. Update: how to get Steam Deck and Gamepad controls in Minecraft. Controller mods were also suggested, but they're rarely updated and often only work with specific Minecraft versions so sticking with Steam Input and just adjusting a few keys is the best choice for that. Some YouTube comments suggested trying out some optimized modpacks, but really I didn't see a big enough difference in terms of performance or power use to make them actually worth it on Deck compared with vanilla Minecraft when testing on the same map seed. Once you have everything worked out and Minecraft is installed where you want it to be (again, it needs to be Forge 1.11.2, this is crucial) you can now copy the mod files and texture pack files from the WesterosCraft files into your vanilla Minecraft directory. Now, from here you can decide to use the default Minecraft directory or use a new one in which it will reinstall Minecraft in that directory. Click on the instance you are going to use and rename it to WesterosCraft. Now you probably already have a Minecraft instance installed on your computer and as long as it is using Forge 1.11.2 this should work. This is where you can find your vanilla Minecraft files.
